About us

Pillow Talk Scotland envisions a society where individuals approach the intimate aspects of life with confidence, knowledge, and resilience. As a registered Scottish charity (SCIO), we are dedicated to fostering stronger social connections, improving individual wellbeing, and enhancing the overall fabric of our society.

We champion a sex positive culture that encourages open and respectful dialogue around relationships, mental health, and sexual wellbeing. These conversations are essential to breaking down barriers, reducing stigma, and promoting healthier, more connected lives.

Our work takes shape through impactful events that inspire meaningful discussions, independent journalism that challenges and informs, and a supportive, vibrant community that sustains this momentum.

We believe that by empowering individuals with the tools and spaces for these conversations, we can create a society that is not only more informed and connected but also better equipped to navigate the complexities of modern relationships and wellbeing.

Our approach

Our work is grounded in the belief that meaningful, community-led initiatives can spark lasting change. From reading groups — where participants select the materials — to events shaped by attendee feedback, every aspect of our work is guided by the needs and voices of the people we serve.

This collaborative ethos extends to our leadership. Two-thirds of our board members began their journey with us as participants in our reading groups, and many of our volunteers first connected with Pillow Talk through our events. This approach ensures that our organisation remains deeply rooted in the experiences and insights of our community.

Our Mission

Through our educational resources, workshops, and community-driven events, we are transforming the way people think and talk about intimate aspects of their lives.

We are not just sharing information — we are fostering an environment that encourages ongoing dialogue, challenges stigma, and supports personal growth.

By engaging with these essential topics, we contribute to building a society that is more informed, connected, and compassionate.

"Pillow Talk opens space for inclusive, informing and open conversations about sex and relationships. It provides a fun and nourishing social peer learning opportunity."

Why it matters

Today’s world is increasingly defined by challenges such as loneliness, declining mental health, and the pervasive impacts of gender-based violence and hate crimes. In this context, Pillow Talk provides safe, inclusive spaces where empathy, connection, and understanding can flourish.

By fostering these values, we address not only immediate individual needs but also contribute to building stronger, more compassionate communities.

“I was pleasantly surprised that there is a variety of opinions, a gentle probing of ideas, humour yet a sense of seriousness, patience and generosity all around. There are not many opportunities for people to gather to explore these topics in an informal and respectful way. I really hope that this important work continues as it is an affirming and useful way to bouy one's mental health in the community.”
